About the Hackathon
Theme: Co-Existence With AI
Subthemes: AI in Every Day Life, Invisible AI, AI in Healthcare
This will be the 3rd iteration of our flagship AI Ethics Hackathon. Previously held virtually, we invited students from around the world of all technical levels to work in a team, and develop an innovative, ethical, proposal for a real-world problem. This year will be the first in-person hackathon, and your support would make a tremendous difference in its success! During the one-day event, students will work with their team in a limited time frame and leave the event with new connections made, opportunities to chat with companies, clubs, and professors, a finished proposal and prototype, and a unique experience gained. This hackathon is set to take place on March 8, 2025 in person at the University of Toronto. Students with no prior experience are guided through the project in various stages, from ideation, solution proposal, ethics evaluation, to pitch presentations. This year, we also added an asynchronous track, where students with passions in creative media may submit writing and art pieces ahead of time, to be published on our own and collaborators’ social and publishing outlets.
Unlike traditional hackathons, you will mainly focus on creating solutions and how they interact with AI & Ethics. Our structured approach guides you through ideation, solution development, and ethical assessment, ensuring everyone can contribute meaningfully to a great business pitch for prizes. You will have the opportunity to gain personal connections with companies, startup founders and mentors at the hackathon. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 8 (9am-8pm), and it will be a full-day event on the Uoft Campus, with free food provided for the whole day event! ☕️🥐 🍕
Note: You can sign up by yourself or with a group of up to 3 people. If you sign up alone we will find you a group to work with! You'll have the opportunity to:
- Network with tech companies, startup founders and academics
- Collaborate with diverse teams to develop innovative, ethical AI solutions
- Create a meaningful project that addresses real ethical challenges in AI development
- Gain experience in pitching business ideas!
